Will There Be a Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck in North America?
Mercedes-Benz aims to keep up with automotive markets across the globe and give drivers the types of vehicles they are searching for. In doing so, the automaker recently announced plans to explore the potential success of a Mercedes-Benz pickup truck in North America. Although nothing has been officially announced yet, here’s what we know so far.
Midsize Pickup Trucks in North America
Initially, when Mercedes-Benz revealed the X-Class concept model, it had planned to only release units in South America and Europe. This decision was based on the tendency for North American drivers to choose full-size pickups over midsize models. However, over the last year, a shift toward midsize trucks in the U.S. has caused Mercedes-Benz to reconsider launching the X-Class in North America as well.
What is the Mercedes-Benz X-Class?
The Mercedes-Benz X-Class, which was revealed in October 2016, takes a basic midsize pickup truck to the next level with upscale styling and high-quality equipment. Notable elements include a V6 diesel engine, 4MATIC®* permanent all-wheel drive, ample towing and payload capacities, and a unique suspension with wide axles, a five-link rear axle, and a spring-damper setup for exceptional rider comfort. Not to mention, the interior of the X-Class is engineered to provide ergonomic comfort and high-tech convenience features to enhance any ride.
