Mercedes-Benz Partners with The North Face to Explore the Great White North
Mercedes-Benz and The North Face Tour Canada and Alaska in G-Class SUVs
This summer, Mercedes-Benz teamed up with The North Face and the German Roamers to take on the 1,864-mile journey from Whitehorse, Canada to Anchorage, Alaska. Members of the German Roamers, a photographing group—Johannes Höhn, Lennart Pagel, and Hannes Becker—drove two G-Class SUVs equipped with the latest gear from The North Face and documented their journey over 13 days.
“The German Roamers know just where to find and record the finest and most beautiful motifs off the beaten track. The G-Class is just the right vehicle to reach these special locations and it fits authentically into the visual imagery.”
– Nataneal Sijanta, Mercedes-Benz marketing head
The group ventured along the scenic Alaska Highway, which features beautiful snow-covered mountains and a variety of wildlife that were captured by filmmaker Mathias von Gostomski. Hansjörg Auer, an extreme climber from The North Face, was also along for the thrilling journey. The North Face provided the group with several essentials, such as outdoor gear, duffel bags, sleeping bags, and tents.
Why Choose Mercedes-Benz G-Class for an Off-Road Adventure?
For this journey, the group opted for the Mercedes-Benz G 550 SUV, which is equipped to offer an exciting and comfortable ride. The SUV’s 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine is capable of producing an impressive 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque and can go 0 to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds. The G-Class is built to take on the road less traveled. In fact, it can traverse an 80% grade and take on a 54% lateral slope. It offers an exceptional ground clearance and a suspension built to handle even the most rugged terrain.
