After 2017, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan Will No Longer Offer the Standing Hood Ornament
For 2018, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers just a few notable updates, one of them being the loss of the standing hood ornament for models made in America. The Mercedes-Benz plant in Alabama will now only make C-Class sedan models with Sport styling, which includes an oversize emblem integrated into the front grille. Read on to learn more about this change as well as other updates to expect for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz lineup.
2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan Loses Hood Ornament in U.S.
In previous years, the C-Class sedan Luxury trim was available with a special front and rear bumper design that included the Mercedes-Benz ornament placed above the front hood. Going forward, Mercedes-Benz will strictly be offering the Sporty front grille with integrated badging on the C-Class sedan. Changes like this are typically attributed to a decrease in popularity, but, in this case, Mercedes-Benz is aiming to attract more younger buyers. The standing hood ornament was seen by many as old and pedantic.
However, if you’re like us and you love the classic look of the hood ornament, fear not. It will still be offered as an option on the European version of the C-Class Luxury trim as well as on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan and wagon and the S-Class AMG® models.
