Mercedes-Benz Unveils New Engines and Semi-Autonomous Technology in 2018 S-Class and AMG® S 63

At the recent Shanghai Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz revealed the new S-Class along with its updated mechanics and advanced technology features. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class lineup also includes the refreshed Mercedes-AMG® S 63 that is designed for next-level performance. Here’s what we know so far about the updated features and design of the 2018 S-Class.

Design and Features of the 2018 S-Class

On the outside, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class features a refreshed front grille design with a high-gloss finish on models equipped with 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder engines as well as new LED taillamps and a new lower bumper with integrated visible tailpipe trim. The interior of the 2018 S-Class also offers a number of notable updates, including two new 12.3-inch high-resolution display screens giving drivers a widescreen cockpit. Shoppers can choose from two new natural grain wood trims and three new upholstery color combinations–Silk Beige/Deep-Sea Blue, Magma Grey/Espresso Brown, and Mahogany/Silk Beige.

In addition to offering updated design elements, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class also has several new technology features, such as:

2018 Mercedes-Benz Performance Capabilities

Under the hood, the S-Class lineup features almost a completely new set of engines, including an all-new 4.0-liter V8. The Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach models are able to deliver 496 horsepower and 516 lb-ft torque, while the Mercedes-AMG® version can produce a whopping 612 horsepower and 664 lb-ft torque. Every 2018 S-Class model is equipped with 4MATIC® all-wheel drive* for driving confidence in a variety of road conditions.
