Mercedes-Benz already offers five electric passenger vehicles in the United States, and their sales continue to rise. But Mercedes is also expanding its hybrid offerings, helping ease customers into the world of EVs before the transition to electric power begins to take full effect next decade. Now the German automaker has announced it is adding a plug-in-hybrid variant for its compact GLC-class crossover, the 2025 GLC 350e. The new model arrives in the second half of this year. The plug-in GLC packs a 24.8-kWh battery and a 134-hp permanently excited synchronous motor. This is paired with a 2.0-liter 201-hp engine, and while Mercedes didn’t confirm any other details of the gas powertrain, we believe it is a detuned version of the turbocharged four-cylinder from the GLC 300. All told, the hybrid system has a combined output of 313 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, which is routed to all four wheels and provides a claimed 6.6-second sprint to 60 mph.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT
